Cork flooring
Process:
Lightweight, cushiony, natural cork tiles serve as the flooring material for the kitchen area. Cork tiles are set out to acclimate to the space where it will be installed. The surface must be smooth and void of indentations because once the tile is adhered and rolled into place, any imperfections will telegraph through. Contact cement is used to install the tiles, followed by rolling the floor surface with a weighted roller. After the contact cement is completely dried, the surface can be sealed. In this case, the surface is finished with four coats of a satin polyurethane.
